Presenting Our First Carson City Completion…

Valley Springs Apartments

Northern Nevada Community Housing (NNCH) is proud to present the completion of its most recent newly constructed affordable housing complex, Valley Springs; 680 Hot Springs Road, Carson City. Valley Springs is excited to offer a Veterans Preference, supplying quality affordable living for our community’s Veteran population.

In addition to this, Valley Springs has partnered with two locally based non-profit organizations to provide wrap-around case management and supportive services for families and individuals living with special needs. All units feature affordable rents at 50% AMI (annual median income) qualifying standards as set by HUD. This 62 unit 3-story community with elevator access includes 36 two-bedroom units, and 26 one-bedroom units. The two-bedroom units are designed at 834 square feet, and the one-bedroom units at 654 square feet.

A place for Veterans

All units at Valley Springs carry a Veteran preference and NNCH will continue their successful partnership with Veterans Administration to ensure that Veteran households and Veterans with special needs are immediately referred to Valley Springs for their housing needs. Veterans Administration is a Federal based veteran service agency providing veteran programs. They strive to engage veterans and their families in a process of healing and growth that celebrates their individuality, identifies all barriers to success, mitigates those barriers, and challenges each participant to live to their utmost potential.

All tenants, regardless of their Veteran or Special Needs status, have access to social opportunities and tenant services organized by Valley Springs staff. NNCH is expanding services currently offered at other properties and will schedule Financial Literacy and Budgeting workshops through a partnership Wells Fargo Finance in the Community Room.

A community within a community

This contemporary building is centered around a courtyard with recreational areas, play equipment, and garden beds. The Community Building includes a resident gathering area, warming kitchen, library, exercise room, and computer center, along with management and maintenance offices. Residents benefit from ample on-site parking, 24-hour gated access, security cameras, and exterior lighting. Additionally, Valley Springs features the largest solar panel array we've installed, projected to achieve net-zero energy consumption.

This is low income housing

All 62 units are offered to individuals and families earning less than 50% of Area Median Income. A total of twelve units are identified as Special Needs units and marketed through Special Needs Partners seeking permanent housing for clients in their care. Rental assistance for special needs units has been awarded to NNCH by NRHA (Nevada Rural Housing Authority) to help ensure tenant success.
